We are Coinmerce, a European cryptocurrency platform with Dutch roots. Our mission is to make crypto simple, secure and accessible to everyone, both individuals and professionals. Coinmerce is registered as a crypto broker with De Nederlandsche Bank and serves customers in more than 10 European countries. In the near future, we will develop new financial products and launch our platform in even more countries. Coinmerce stands for transparency, which is reflected in our office in Schiphol-Rijk. What we are looking for:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team. The Legal Counsel will play a pivotal role in providing strategic legal advice, and supporting the business in navigating complex legal issues in the cryptocurrency space.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal guidance and support on a wide range of issues related to cryptocurrency regulation, financial services, and corporate governance;
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents, including customer agreements, partnership agreements, and licensing agreements;
Monitor regulatory developments and assess the impact of new laws, regulations, and guidelines on the business operations and compliance obligations;
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including compliance, operations, and product development, to ensure legal compliance and mitigate legal risks;
Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues, including securities laws, AML/KYC regulations, data protection, and intellectual property rights;
Manage and oversee litigation matters, regulatory inquiries, and disputes involving the company, working closely with external counsel as needed;
Assist with M&A-related matters by providing legal support in the business expansion efforts;
Assist in corporate governance matters, including corporate filings, board meetings, and compliance with company policies and procedures;
Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal matters, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Salary range of EUR 55k per year
Bachelor's degree in law; Master's degree or equivalent;
Admission to the Dutch Bar Association (advocaat) or equivalent qualification in another jurisdiction preferred;
Provable experience as a legal counsel or attorney, with a focus on financial services, regulatory compliance, or technology law;
Strong understanding of Dutch and EU laws and regulations applicable to the cryptocurrency industry, including financial regulations, AML/KYC requirements, and data protection laws;
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents and contracts;
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess legal risks and provide practical solutions;
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
Fluency in English and Dutch; proficiency in other languages is a plus;
Experience in the cryptocurrency or fintech industry is preferred.
